The Hotel Palomar: Boutique Style for a Night on the Town

Lounge around the firepit on the outdoor patio with one of bar manager Brian Means' inventive communal cocktails, or hide out in the noir-inspired interior for some happy hour magic. If brewpub bonhomie is more your scene, grab some pints at Thirsty Bear or 21st Amendment. The bespoke libations at Oddjob go down smooth amid the low-tech industrial setting. Sophisticated palates should head to Terroir, a darkly cozy wine bar specializing in natural and biodynamic wines.
Some of the city's best venues for live music are close to the Palomar. Any night of the week you can find a show at Slim's, Hotel Utah and the Warfield, from local acts to headlining chart-toppers. If you're off to the Warfield, be sure to stop in at newly opened The European for some preshow cocktails. San Francisco institution AsiaSF specializes in a different kind of show. Every hour the world-famous transgender servers become world-famous transgender performers atop the red dragon runway bar.
You're more likely to see world-famous DJs at SOMA clubs like 1015 Folsom, Mezzanine, Monarch, and DNA Lounge. The revolving calendar at 111 Minna almost always has something on offer, from art shows to dance nights like Back to the '90s. Top DJs and promoters spin the night away at John Colins Lounge. F8 puts together an eclectic mix of food, music, DJs and art, with the third Thursday of the month featuring a live drink and draw with local artists. And it's not a night out in San Francisco if you don't find yourself watching the sun come up at The Endup.
